18 Jan BILLIONS TV SERIES – A True Representation Of What Goes On In The Hedge Fund Managers World
I love watching Wall Street movies such as the original Michael Douglas movie Wall Street or the star studded, Margin Call movie about the start of the Financial Crisis. Besides the entertainment value, what you get is a real life glimpse of what goes on behind closed doors at some of the biggest and most influential Wall Street firms. Whether it’s about insider trading or how the big Wall Street firms make money, its eye opening to see how unfair an advantage us, retail traders or investors have versus the big boys.
If you’re like me, a new TV series called “Billions” has just come out that gives viewers a glimpse of what really goes on in the Hedge Fund Manager’s world. The whole premise of the show is about how the US Attorney goes after a big Hedge Fund Manager for insider trading. I just saw the pilot episode last week and I was blown away about how accurate they are in depicting the real life financial world. Some say that this show is modeled after the real life characters of current US Attorney, Preet Bharara and Hedge Fund superstar, Steven Cohen.
I won’t spoil too much of the plot for you but I do highly recommend that you watch the show. It’s on weekly on Showtime. Check your local listings or online to see when it airs in your city. Over the next few weeks, I will be posting some ideas from the show that I think you can implement to improve your trading. No… I didn’t mean insider trading.
